Disney-Marvel have a habit of reining in those costs and maximizing their cross-promotional potential with a mega-marketing machine that has proven unparalleled in the superhero genre so far. Notice that every previous Spider-Man movie except the first 2002 release had budgets in the $200+ million range, and massive marketing expenses to boot. In fact, I personally expect the film to climb even higher than that, if it lives up to its potential and Marvel and Sony give it the royal treatment in terms of marketing (which will obviously happen). Now add in the presence of Robert Downey Jr.'s wildly popular Tony Stark aka Iron Man, and the possibility of some other MCU familiar faces popping up as well, and I think it's obvious Homecoming could get Spider-Man back toward his average box office performance again (i.e. The popularity of Civil War and Holland's portrayal, plus the tie-in to the MCU itself and solid Marvel branding, should be enough to help Spider-Man: Homecoming to a superior box office outing than the previous franchise-stopping entry The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (which I personally feel is sorely underrated, but that's a separate conversation).

Tom Holland's Spider-Man was among the most highly-praised aspects of Captain America: Civil War, and is widely considered the most comics-faithful adaptation we've seen on the big screen to date.
